Two wedding cakes for two weddings this weekend and over 100 miles between them.
On friday we delivered to a new venue for us - St.Fagans Castle nr Cardiff and on Saturday we drove the other way to the Fishguard Bay Hotel in Fishguard. It took us over 2 hours to drive to Fishguard with a 5 tier wedding cake which weighed an absolute tonne.Thankfully we deliverd the cake without any hiccups.
The theme for the wedding was Red and White and the bride and groom had over 250 guests attending the wedding breakfast. In order to satisfy all tastes we supplied four different cake flavours, fruit cake, madeira cake, chocolate cake and carrot cake.
The St.Fagans wedding was a more intimate affair with only 40 guests and the setting in a private room in St.Fagans castle was absolutely fabulous. For the wedding cake the bride choose a 3 tier cake decorated with white flower blossoms.
This week we opened our wedding books for 2011 and already most of the consultations times for the next month have already been taken.

September's edition of Swansea Life magazine features Sian's recipe for Madeira sponge and vanilla buttercream. This is by far the most popular type of cake we baked for celebrations such as birthdays and weddings.
The article shows pictures of cakes we have have designed recently for Yellow Jersey Tour de France Cake and a 1970's Disco inspired cake. Also featured is a pink and white pipped Wedding Cake, designed to look like a wrapped present.
This cake was also featured in this months edition of South Wales Your Wedding Magazine along with a previous chocolate creation of Sian's called "Jardin du Chocolat".

The results have been published for the 2010 Great Taste Awards and we have just been notified that we have won a Gold Star for our Pear & Ginger Pudding.
This is going to be a fantastic dessert for Christmas served with warm custard (or fresh cream which is my favourite for accompaniment to any dessert).
Pear & Ginger is a perfect combination for a winter dessert and Sian has produced a recipe that really works.
This dessert is definately not just food, its "Comfort Food"

We made some special birthday cakes last weekend with children's characters, Hungry Caterpillar, Peppa Pig and Sponge Bob Square pants.
The lady who ordered the The Hungry caterpillar cake rang us on Monday morning to say that "the cake was amazing. Everybody loved the design and it tasted as good as it looked".
It is always so rewarding when you receive feedback and this particular cake was definitely a favourite of mine.
For the Peppa Pig cake we delivered this to New Dock Stars Clubhouse in Llanelli. The organiser rang to ask for a peppa pig cake and the design she wanted was the design on a child's lunch box which showed Peppa Pig The Brave. Mel was able to download a copy of the image and then she decorated the cake in a patch work quilt style. Needless to say she did an amazing job.
This cake was 10" square, jam and butter-cream madeira cake which serves 50 plus slices.
For Sponge Bob Square Pants, Mel made the figures out of sugar-paste including Patrick and the giant pineapple and decorated the cake with an underwater theme.

Three wedding cake creations last weekend,
delivered to The King Arthur in Reynoldston in the Gower,
Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel in Bridgend and The Vale Hotel in Hensol. nr Cardiff.
The first wedding cake cake was a three tier ivory cake with diamante diamonds and dark green ribbons with a diamante broach.
The second wedding cake was a three tier white cigarillo cake with pink dusted roses.

Rose Garden Wedding Cake Topper with matching fondant iced cup cakes. This was last fridays creation for the wedding of Jason and Sian held at the Oxwich Bay Hotel in the Gower, Swansea.
We will be starting to take orders for 2011 Wedding Cakes from September 1st.

We have just had the pictures through from the NPT Fairtrade event we attended last month. The event was superbly organised and it was well attended. Neath Port Talbot is firmly established as a Fairtrade county and it was a pleasure as a local business to give our support to the Fairtrade movement.

Made with a biscuit base, Ty tanglywst fresh double cream, caster sugar, cream cheese and vanilla.
Topped with all flavour combinations including lemon, raspberry, strawberry, turkish delight, banoffee sauce, white chocolate, baileys liqueur, blueberry, orange and passion fruit.
