Sian was asked to make one last Saturday and it looked fantastic. It really cause a stir in our Neath patisserie.

Wedding Cakes for the Worms Head Hotel, Gower

It is never easy delivering Wedding cakes but we do get to visit some amazing venues. Last weekend Sian delivered two cakes to the Worms Head Hotel in Rhossili. The hotel has stunning views over Worms Head and Rhossili Bay but the peace and tranquility of the venue comes at a cost - it is absolutely miles away through winding and narrowing country roads.

Thankfully despite the rain, we managed to deliver the cakes safely. The bride ordered two cakes.

 One was a traditional 3 tier Cake with a Green theme with dark green, mint and Black.

The other cake was a chocolate cake decorated with fresh strawberries for the Groom as an extra special surprise "with chocs of love".

Fresh gower strawberries - unbeatable.

Llanelli Scarlets 70th Birthday Cake

Being Osprey fans with a patisserie cake shop in Neath, it was a big ask for us to produce a 70th Birthday Cake for a die hard Llanelli Scarlets supporter.

The cake was on display in the shop for a couple of days prior to being collected by the customer and it certainly attracted a lot of interest ....

Sponge bob Birthday Cake

Evan was 5 last week and Sian was asked to make a Sponge Bob birthday cake to celebrate. We are getting more and more requests for novelty birthday cakes which is great.

Our two year old daughter Isabel's favourite question every morning is "are you going to work?" quickly followed by "Will you make me a Mr.Tumble cake?"

Too much TV....

National Cup Cake Week

National Cup Cake Week is a fantastic week long extravaganza being organised by the British Baker Magazine to celebrate this special Bakery product.

The aim of the week, held from September 14th - 19th 2009, is to draw customers attention to the many wonderful recipes and exotic toppings available for cupcakes and to tempt both new and existing customers to buy (at least) one during the week!

Judging has been underway for the past month to find the best cupcake and cupcake makers in the UK. The six best cupcakes will go on top represent one trading day of the week, with the champion cupcakes representing a Super Indulgent Saturday.

We have just been notified that we have selected as one of the finalist for the competition and as the only remaining Welsh Company we can officially lay claim to having the best cupcakes in Wales.

We have to provide samples for the final judging session which will take place in Oxford this coming Wednesday (5th August) with the judging panel including both Mich Turner and Fiona Burrell both of whom are heroes of Sian.

3 tier chocolate wedding cake with pink roses

One of the most stressful jobs of the week is delivering the Wedding Cakes to the Wedding Venues. We deliver to Neath, Port Talbot, Swansea, Gower, Bridgend, Porthcawl and everywhere else across South Wales and I always feel like I need a stiff brandy once the cake has been safely set up.

This week we made a 3 tier chocolate wedding cake decorated with pink roses and the bride arrange to collect the cake from our patisserie in Neath instead of having us deliver it. What a relief.

 We are fully booked for the next six weeks for Wedding Cake consultations with the next available date being Saturday September 12th.

Asian Wedding Cakes at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea

When you have over 300 people attending your Asian Wedding celebration at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea you need a lot of cake.

So why not have a cake in the shape of a car, and a tower of cupcakes, and large red heart shaped cake decorated with diamonds, and a cake decorated with a beautiful floral design, and a fairy castle cake with lights, and an illuminated water fountain and a beautiful white white cake with a diamond brooch.

They all looked amazing!

 

This particular Wedding took an enormous amount of planning and preparation but it was worth every minute. Every small detail was worked through to ensure that the cakes were exactly how the bride wished they would be.

Sanah gave Sian a very special kiss to thank her for all her hard work.

The cake was supposed to be delivered to La Parrilla restaurant in Swansea as a surprise but a last minute change meant that it was picked up from our patisserie in Neath instead.

Summer fruits recipes

Fresh raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries are for sale everywhere at the moment and are reasonably priced. For a great day out why not visit one of the "pick your own" farms on the Gower such as Beynons Farm near Oxwich. Take the children and teach them where and how fruit is grown. It's a healthy outing with the bonues of lots of lovely fruit and veg to take home to eat.

Colourful 3 tier cake for Mehndi Celebration

Sian made the most beautifully coloured 3 tier Cake this week for a brides Mehndi celebration held at the Canada Lodge & Lake near Cardiff. It is the first time that we have visited this venue but we were very impressed with the location and the facilities.

The cake itself looked stunning and matched the stage backdrop beautifully.

The Wedding Celebration is set to take place this weekend at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea and Sian is busy making cake for 500 guests.
