Work on the centre of excellence is nearing completion. The floor and wall covering have been fitted in the kitchen and the final touches are being made to the paint work upstairs. Internal doors and windows are ready for painting and the kitchen equipment is starting to arrive on site.
The snow arrived today and most of South Wales decided to stay at home. We started the day, by going sledging up the park with our four children at 7.30am. It was the first time that Isabel had ever seen snow. By 9.30am we were back in the house drinking hot chocolate.
We decided to close the patisserie for the day but Sian had to go into work because she had two orders for Birthday Cakes and she didn't want to let anyone down. We walked into town and there wasn't a car on the road. By midday the clouds had lifted and I decided to drive over to the new unit to take some pictures of the progress so far.

This is the main cooking area for the new kitchen, complete with temporary coffee and tea making facilities.
Upstairs we have completed the central heating and are starting to paint the walls. The suspended ceiling should be in place by the end of next week.
Completion date for the whole unit is still on schedule for March 1st.

Well the great news is that Sian's Chocolate Wedding cake "Jardin du Chocolat" has a full page spread in the magazine. This is Sian's debut in the magazine and she was so excited when she saw the picture. This is national recognition and a great confidence boaster that she can make cakes with the best.
I have blogged previously about this Wedding cake and great thing about it was that the bride had given Sian an open brief. "Surprise Me" she said.

One step at the time is the old saying.
Well today we had fifteen delivered all together, as the fitters set to work to install our new staircase at the unit, two weeks ahead of schedule.
CGL Services - "They don't hang about"
The electricians have been on site all week, asking all "electric type questions" and chasing each other round with wires. They keep going on about a hub!! I don't know what it means, I think it is something to do with Dr.Who and being able to watch TV and work the toaster whilst sitting in my office (renamed the La Creme control room).
They keep stopping work when I appear with the camera so that they can comb their hair. That is those of them that have hair. Those that don't just try to look busy and grin aimlessly.
First fix is over so they will be back in a month, once the walling has been finished.
I don't know who is going to make the coffee once they are gone. Perhaps Nigel can ask the carpenters to build a table to save them from bending down.
The La Creme Centre of Excellence is really starting to take shape. CGL Services have been working all weekend and the partition walls for the offices upstairs are now in place.

We are going to be exhibiting at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday 18th January as part of the South Wales Evening Post's Wedding fair. This will be our debut as far as Wedding fairs go and Sian is busy planning the Wedding Cakes we will be exhibiting and the Wedding favours.

News of our expansion plans and the new La Creme Centre of Excellence has reached the British Baker magazine. This week they have run a story on their website and the story will also feature in next weeks British Baker magazine.
The story features a picture of Sian showing off one of her wedding cakes.
Sian was runner up as Patissier of the Year at the British Baker Awards in 2007.
The builders only picked up the steel RSJ's on Monday afternoon and in less than a week they have already completed the installation of the mezzanine floor. It is incredible to watch how quickly things are progressing. The electricians will be on site next week for "first fix" and also the partition walls will be going up.

The builders have started work on the infrastructure for the new La Creme Centre of Excellence. The majority of the fit out will be handled by CGL Services. The firm comes highly recommended and they will be a neighbour of ours because they have bought the unit two down from us. Recently they completed the fitted out of the Crown Security business also on our site and the workmanship is first class.
We are having a mezzaine floor constructed and the RSJ's should be on site this week, with the flooring completed by early January.
